Hi, I'm Eugene K. We're a family of four, and our pets travel with us most of the time. Together we've been through almost every U.S. state and most of Europe — Norway, the UK and Iceland are still on our list. We're still on the road, and that's why The Finer Route focuses on the practical side of travel: getting from the airport to the city, what to do when a flight is cancelled, which tickets to book ahead and which you can skip.
My guides combine our own travel experience with up-to-date official information — airline rules, EU passenger rights, attraction websites. When rules or schedules change, I update the guide.
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you book through them, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes what I recommend.
Experience behind the guides
- Driven across much of Europe, in winter too: bought vignettes in Austria, Slovenia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria, and fitted snow chains in the mountains.
- Learned some rules the hard way, like a Czech motorway fine for a vignette bought too late, a debit card refused at a rental desk, and a connection missed twice on one trip.
- Travels with a small dog and a big cat most of the time, so I pay attention to what makes a trip work for a whole family.
How I write and check guides
- Official sources first. Rules, fees and dates are checked against government, airline, operator and attraction websites, and linked in every guide.
- Clear about experience. When a tip comes from our own trips, I say so. When I haven't used a product or service, I say that too, and explain how I chose it.
- Updated when things change. Each guide shows the date it was last updated. See also how we choose products.
