The Finer Route is an independent travel site. We write practical, step-by-step guides to the parts of a trip that cause the most stress: getting from the airport to the hotel, choosing between trains and ferries, buying the right museum ticket, staying connected and staying covered.
How we work
- We check before we publish. Schedules, rules and prices change often, so we check official sources (operators, museums, airports and government sites) when we write and update each guide, and we link to them.
- We say what we did and didn't do. When a guide is based on research rather than a personal trip, we say so. We never invent first-hand experiences or reviews.
- We keep it useful. Every guide aims to answer a real question quickly, then go deeper for readers who want the detail.
- We update. Each guide shows the date it was last updated. If you spot something out of date, please tell us.
How the site is funded
Some links on The Finer Route are affiliate links. If you book or buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes what we recommend: we choose services because they solve the problem in the guide, and we point out their downsides. Read our affiliate disclosure for details.
